SUO challenge

I really enjoy checking out the SUO challenges page every week or so.  This time the challenge is a clean and simple holiday card.  That is exactly what i need to make this year.  This one is so simple it is my first one layer wonder in a LONG time.  What can I say I love my some ribbon and layers and bling and buttons.
I have admired the crumb cake color for a while and knew that would be my base.  I struggled for a while to get the balance right on the card but now I am super happy with it.  It is clean and classy.  The stamp set is Snow Swirled for the panel and then Dasher of course is dashing in gold embossing powder.   The ink colors are early espresso, choc chip and crumb cake.  Then the edges are sponged in crumb cake.
I used my stampin up grid paper to make the mask.  I highlighted some of the flakes with the white uniball pen.

I hope you enjoy this card and join in on a SUO challenge sometime soon.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  It is a grey day here in Germany but my turkey is in my tiny oven and the thought of left overs warms my heart.  Being overseas means things are a little different but I did manage to get my hands on some fresh cranberries.  Before I go to start on the rolls I wanted to post this project.  The base is Cajun Craze.  It is the standard card size but I trimmed one inch of the top of the front panel.  The flap...well that's another story...after a few fails I ended up just cutting off that part and covering it with some Orchard Harvest DSP.  That helped cover up all the score marks from my mistakes.

The ribbon is Island Indigo accented by a metal button from the Holiday Catalog.  Inside is a pouch of hot cider and some cinnamon (zimt in German) sticks.  I hope you all enjoy spending time with your family.  We miss our extended family but give thanks to God the three of us (and the dog) are together.  We give thanks for all who serve our country and their families and especially in our thoughts are those who are having Thanksgiving in a foreign land.

Evergreen Version two

This is the second card I made with the Evergreen set.  I really liked this version and if I didn't have such strict restrictions on mailing this probably would be my Christmas card this year.  The base is Crumb Cake with some first edition DSP.  On the DSP I clear embossed the solid image and sponged over it with Gumball Green.  I stamped the line image of the tree on very vanilla with early espresso.  I then used the color spritzer and the gumball green marker to add in the green color.  I also sprayed it with shimmer mist.  That tree is popped up on a dimensional.  To add a splash of color and texture I added a small piece of gumball green embossed with the chevron folder (my current favorite).  Adding a little bakers twine and a wood button finished it off plus a greeting from Snow Swirled.  I realized I am really lacking in Merry Christmas greetings (all I have is teeny tiny wishes).  Most of what I have from SU is "season's greetings" which I know is politically correct but I am a Merry Christmas person.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Evergreen Version One

It is getting to be that time of year that I am starting to think about Christmas cards.  I enjoy this process of making them and consider a hand made card a mini gift to each person.  My mom ordered the stamp set Evergreen from the holiday catalog and until it makes it to her house I thought I would play with it a little bit.  Turns out this won't be my card this year but I wanted to show you 2 versions of Christmas cards made with the Evergreen set.
The base is just a standard premade kraft card base.  The tree is a 2 step stamp.  I stamped it in gumball green on very vanilla.  The overstamp is with SU shimmer paint.  The DSP is from the holiday catalog as well it is Festival of Prints.  I love this DSP and I almost overlooked it on page 20.  It is 48 small sheets (6 1/2 by 4 1/2") for only 6.95.  Do you have DSP anxiety?  Sometimes I do....you know that feeling the first time you cut into that beautiful huge 12 x 12 sheet.  These little beauties are great...almost like using up scraps.
I matted the tree in cherry cobbler and tied some baker's twine with a mini jingle bell (from last year's catalog).  The word Joy is cut out on the big shot with the joyful sizzlit I got on the SU clearance rack.
I used the small star from the set in versamark to add a little something  to the bottom of the card.
I hope you enjoy this little card and maybe get some inspiration.  CASEing makes the holidays easier!
